NHSPN was born at Poiema Studio May 2022 and established as a not-for profit January 2023. Founded by Gabriela Vargas and Alejandro Ramirez.
NHSPN offers tailored community presentations aimed at raising awareness about mental health, suicide prevention, and suicide loss. Through these presentations, we facilitate real conversations to help dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health and address the impact of suicide loss within communities.
Stigma often prevents communities from openly discussing mental health issues and acknowledging the devastating effects of suicide, which can severely affect individuals' well-being. That's why we take pride in offering all our talks in both Spanish and English, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences.

Youth Suicide Prevention is one of our top goals.
Our founder, Gabi Vargas, is our current bilingual instructor.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
